According to LEGO Fan Media sources, it appears as though many LEGO Stores located in the EU (and UK) will not be replenishing their stock of LEGO Monkie Kid™ sets going forward. According to the report, what was originally intended as an Asian Region Exclusive, will begin hitting the discount rack at LEGO Stores beginning immediately, as retail locations plan to make way for other themes and newer sets. The exact reason as to why these sets are being pulled from shelves isn't clear, but it's most likely due to a lack of demand in these particular markets.
This news comes as a surprise, as the North America Campaign plans a wider retail-availability come October, when Amazon and other major retailers plan to stock sets from the LEGO Monkie Kid™ theme. Could the news of the European exodus be a precursor of things to come here in the US?
As of now, it's not clear if they plan to follow through with releasing the Monkie Kid™ sets come October, but one thing that is certain is that the sets have been rather stagnant on Shop@Home since releasing back in Spring 2020, with the sets never going on Backorder or Out of Stock—save one or two of the larger LEGO Monkie Kid™ D2C sets. The assumption is that if the sets continue underperforming in the North American market, as they have in Europe, it's very likely that we'll see the sets hitting the clearance section sooner than later, and inevitably, hitting the Retiring Soon (EOL) List by end of 2021. So, if you've been on the fence about any of the sets you may want to start considering buying up the sets before they're gone for good!
